Q The Russian alphabet intimidates me a little. Do I need to be able to read Russian to take your course?
No. This is the only major course that offers everything simultaneously in Cyrillic and transcribed with English letters. Read either (or both) as you go through the course. And please bear in mind, our system of teaching you to read Cyrillic (our "Russian Destroyer: Master Russian Reading" series) comes free with the Accelerator course. By using this unique system, you'll likely be reading Cyrillic in days. But again, reading Russian is optional.
Q How in depth is the course? What exactly do you cover?
Russian Accelerator is designed to turn you into a confident, conversational speaker of Russian. All the 750+ words which comprise the vocabulary are towards this end. A further goal of the vocabulary is to get you telling your own story. Who you are, where you work or go to school, who your friends and family are, where you live, what your likes and dislikes are, where have you been and where are you going. The list is long, but the topics are biographical in nature. A second goal of the course is to give you the most practical phrases needed for independent travel in Russia. This is done in a realistic way which acknowledges the limitations of a beginning student. Topics include: Asking directions, ordering food, learning about Russian transportation, as well as the conversational tactics of: Asking Yes or No questions, Repeating and re-phrasing answers for confirmation, Keyword targeting, and so on.
Q What about Russian grammar? Do you teach it at all?
Absolutely! We have a unique system for teaching grammar naturally. With Accelerator, you'll learn grammar the same way you learned is as a toddler, through a process known as pattern recognition. Instead of using charts and tables and giving all the complicated rules associated with Russian grammar, the Accelerator course shows the patterns of how Russian words change. Later in the course the official grammar terms are introduced, after the patterns have been established and the student is therefore ready to label the various grammar situations they've encountered.
Q Do you teach all six cases? Verb aspect? VoM?
Yes, we cover all six cases, with the accusative receiving the most emphasis. The cases are covered mostly in the singular, with only a brief look at some of the plural situations. Furthermore, Russian verb aspect is also covered, but not in great depth. (Verb aspect will be covered in the second volume of Accelerator.) Finally, the infamous VoM (Verbs of Motion) in Russian are covered extensively in Unit 13.
Q How much time should I commit to studying your course?
It's recommended you commit at least 20 or 30 minutes a day, 4 or 5 days per week to studying the material. That being said, as a full member you will have lifetime access to all the material, so you can go at your own speed.
Q How long does it take to finish the course?
There are 90 lessons in all, and each takes approximately 30 minutes to go through. If you follow our recommendations and study a new lesson every other day, (reviewing on your off days), then you should be able to complete the course in about six months. But everyone is different. A few have finished the course in four months, and many more have taken over a year. Again, you will always have access to the course, so you can go at your own speed.
Q What are the technical requirements for the course? Browser, internet connection, and so on?
To take the Russian Accelerator online course, the following conditions and devices are required, or recommended:
- (1) Internet Conection: ADSL, Cable connection for best results. If using a dial-up connection videos may load slowly.

Q Is this program appropriate for children?
